Stand Up Paddleboarding:

In addition to surging, kayaking, swimming, and sailing, another favorite San Diego water activity is Stand Up Paddleboarding. There are many local companies that can teach you and many of the seaside hotels offer classes. It’s a great way to see San Diego and good exercise, too!

Hiking Torrey Pines:

This is one of the only places in the world where the Torrey Pine grows and its also one of the best hiking spots. The hike isn’t too long, but beware the hike is more strenuous going up the cliff. This is a lovely place to catch a romantic sunset. The beach below is full of tide pools. Climb up on the largest rock to catch the best one!

Kayaking in La Jolla Cove:

If you’ve been to the beach in San Diego at all, you will have noticed the kayakers out on the water. The good news? You can get in on the fun too! The most common place for sea kayaking is in beautiful La Jolla Cove. You can go out with a regular group or go on a private tour. Some of the kayak companies even offer cave tours…definitely something you will want to do if you have the opportunity. Not only does kayaking provide you with a unique view of the ocean, you’ll also get the chance to see seals, seabirds, fish, and even (harmless) leopard sharks up close!
